Never Say Never Farm is pleased to present their brood
mares. All of our mares are hand-picked for temperament,
conformation, and athletic ability. These attributes are
important for the various sport horse arenas as well as the
world of horse racing. Special attention is paid to
pedigree when selecting broodmares for our racing program.
We believe that our mares are as important as the stallions
in the production of quality foals. Most experts feel the
mare is 50-60% of the foal. Even though some mares seem to
allow the stallion to “mark” the foal thus making it appear
that the stallion contributes more than 50-60%, the
mare regains ground on her influence on the foal in another
way.
The mares impact the foal not only through heredity but also
through environment which heightens the 50-60% influence
measurably. The mares are distinct individuals; their
personalities, mothering style, and rank in the herd all
mold the foal’s personality as it matures into a weanling.
Each of these mares is an important contributor to her
foals disposition and personality, so we offer these pages
to assist you in understanding the type of young horses that
we produce.
Although all of our mares are thoroughbreds, some
are not registered with the Jockey Club which makes their
offspring ineligible for racing. However, that is the only
restriction incurred by the lack of registration papers.
These mares were selected because they were the right type
of mares to produce quality sport horses. They have
produced outstanding conformation show hunters, polo ponies,
field hunters, etc.
Whether a mare is open or in foal, most are for sale or
lease. If a mare is open, the stallion can be selected, the
breeding performed and the pregnancy confirmed as part of
the Sale or Lease Agreement. Broodmares For Sale are on our Horses For Sale Page. For more details on Lease opportunities contact Kate Redmon at (256) 423-2321 or nsn_farm@knology.net.
